2011 Season Wrap

2011 A Grade Wrap
The first half of the 2011 season began dismally for the Scotch A's. Although fiery Fernie did lay down a sweet tackle on an Unley player undoubtedly deserved of it! Once the old midfield partnership of Ferg and Lee resumed in the middle of the midfield, the side regained stability. From that point on the team started playing some good football, and the results started to come. Four wins out of our last six matches showed that we really do deserve to be in the top flight of collegiate league football. Highlights for the A's included doing the double over the competitive Uni Whites, beating traditional rivals Unley 1-0 at home and almost ruining Mercedes title hopes with an amazing 5-4 loss in the last game of the season. UK Andy's cameo appearance was very impressive and Dunsy was solid as per usual in defence. Pocket rocket Max Adams also injected some much needed enthusiasm into the team with his return. Thanks heaps to Al, Jarrod and James who all did their time in goals over the season!
2011 B Grade Wrap
The Scotchie 1B side had a challenging yet positive year in 2011. Following a very disappointing season in 2010, the new look side took the game to several teams and were unlucky not to pick up any wins. As it was, an epic 6-4 loss to Immanuel after extra time in the first round of the cup was undoubtedly a highlight, and a come from behind 3-3 draw with Uni Black was inspiring to all watching. New signings Cam G, Barts and Lachy all had top seasons, with Will, Munch and Adam lifting their games too. No season would be complete without the annual retirement and comeback of Scotch defensive stalwart Alasdair “I'm a Striker really” Rodgers. Good thing he did too, else the amateur footballing community would have missed an absolute cracker of a goal. Love your work Al!
As always we encourage anyone who'd like to have a kick about to get in touch (email christianjrogers@gmail.com). Season 2012 will be here before you know it!
