2011 A Grade Wrap
The first half of the 2011 season began dismally for the Scotch A's. Although fiery Fernie did lay down a sweet tackle on an Unley player undoubtedly deserved of it! Once the old midfield partnership of Ferg and Lee resumed in the middle of the midfield, the side regained stability. From that point on the team started playing some good football, and the results started to come. Four wins out of our last six matches showed that we really do deserve to be in the top flight of collegiate league football. Highlights for the A's included doing the double over the competitive Uni Whites, beating traditional rivals Unley 1-0 at home and almost ruining Mercedes title hopes with an amazing 5-4 loss in the last game of the season. UK Andy's cameo appearance was very impressive and Dunsy was solid as per usual in defence. Pocket rocket Max Adams also injected some much needed enthusiasm into the team with his return. Thanks heaps to Al, Jarrod and James who all did their time in goals over the season!
2011 B Grade Wrap
The Scotchie 1B side had a challenging yet positive year in 2011. Following a very disappointing season in 2010, the new look side took the game to several teams and were unlucky not to pick up any wins. As it was, an epic 6-4 loss to Immanuel after extra time in the first round of the cup was undoubtedly a highlight, and a come from behind 3-3 draw with Uni Black was inspiring to all watching. New signings Cam G, Barts and Lachy all had top seasons, with Will, Munch and Adam lifting their games too. No season would be complete without the annual retirement and comeback of Scotch defensive stalwart Alasdair “I'm a Striker really” Rodgers. Good thing he did too, else the amateur footballing community would have missed an absolute cracker of a goal. Love your work Al!
As always we encourage anyone who'd like to have a kick about to get in touch (email christianjrogers@gmail.com). Season 2012 will be here before you know it!

Uni Whites A 0 - 2 Scotch A (Chris, Gammy)
Following on from a disappointing loss against a very beatable Immanuel side, the A’s were up against one of the biggest improvers over the last couple of seasons, Uni Whites. The game started very well for the Scotchies, with Chris and Lee linking well with both Gammy and Dave up front and the Whites having little possession. This dominance paid off after about 10minutes when Chris latched on to a well flighted Timmy corner to head past the Whites distraught keeper. The Uni boys then rallied and fought their way back into the match with several half chances at either end.
The second half saw Lee and Chris maintain their midfield dominance and both sides had several good chances to score. The second breakthrough came midway through the second half, when a low left footed cross from Toby found Gammy who finished neatly at the near post. James shone in goals in his first game for the Scotchies, with several sharp reflex saves and a courageous headed clearance. A well deserved win after several closely fought losses.
Uni Whites B 3 - 2 Scotch B (Lachy, Catton)
After a spirited 0-0 draw with Immanuel the week before, the Scotch B’s were looking for their first win of the season against the second bottom placed side Uni Whites. The first half was a fairly even affair, with both teams having good chances. The opening goal went to an unmarked Uni White attacker at the near post, before Lachy won and converted a great free-kick to level the scores at half time. The Whites took the lead again in the second half, following a period of dominance. The goal kick-started the Scotchies and we pushed forward with more intensity. A mesmerising Catton run through 3 defenders at the top of the box left him with a simple finish to level the game at 2 – 2. A great flick-on header by Jarod nestled in the net late in the second half, but was disallowed by the referee for no apparent reason. A late break by the Whites resulted in last minute winner and devastation for the battling B’s.
Cam, Adam and Catton had fantastic games in the midfield, with Haydn involved in many enterprising runs forward (from central defence, no less). A narrow loss that left a bitter taste in the mouth after the wrongfully disallowed goal minutes from time.
