Please join College Principal Dr John Newton and me for Old Collegians’ and Community drinks in Sydney.
It’s been a few years since our last Sydney drinks so it would be great to see everyone again, to hear from Dr John about the fantastic things that are going on at the College and progress SCOCA’s objective of continuing friendships and connections for life.
This invitation is open to the entire College community including old collegians, partners, friends, past parents and staff. Please feel free to pass on this invitation to any community members you know who might want to come along.

1967 Alumni 50 Year Reunion

The Class of 1967 held its 50th (and incidentally its first!) reunion on 27 October with 35 old collegians attending. Former Principal Ken Webb led the group on a tour of the senior/middle school campuses including the Rosevear Boarding House. During drinks and canapes in the Drawing Room, current Principal Dr John Newton welcomed the group back to the College and spoke about the College in 2017 and the forthcoming Centenary in 2019.

Dinner followed at the Edinburgh Hotel where Mark Evans proposed toasts to absent friends and to the College. A number of the ’67 alumni travelled from interstate including Bob Noll (Perth), Rob Wilson (Melbourne), David Cannon (Wagga) and Duncan Leitch came from New Zealand. If successful reunions are measured by the number of attendees, the noise level, the stories and the laughter, then this occasion was one of those.

Special thanks to co-convenor John Harrison for his outstanding detective work, and to Tria Goode (Development Office) for her support.

1997 Alumni 20 Year Reunion

Reflecting that Scotch College produces global citizens with local loyalties, graduates of the 1997 cohort came from all over the world to celebrate their 20-year reunion in the High Street bar at The Edinburgh Hotel. With a soundtrack of 1997 songs playing in the background, hugs were exchanged and the laughter and conversation flowed freely, moving quickly from pleasantries to deep and important topics, indicative of the tight-knit nature and genuineness of the people in this group of Old Collegians.

Photos collected in the months leading up to the reunion were displayed on a large TV and sparked many discussions as Old Collegians reminisced about sporting, academic and extra-curricular achievements, drama productions and social activities. Many of these stories were shared with our special guest, Principal Dr John Newton, who kindly gave up his Saturday night to join us for a few drinks.

A highlight of the evening was a group artistic collaboration – a large, blank canvas was provided by the organisers of the reunion and Old Collegians were asked to write a few words about how they felt on their way to the reunion and/or the strongest memory of their time at Scotch.

The night carried on at various venues and into the early hours of Sunday with many proving that they still had the stamina of their 1997 selves.

A family BBQ at Scotch College was then held the day after with a group of Old Collegians taken on a fascinating tour of the School generously provided by former Principal Ken Webb. This was followed by a relaxed and enjoyable lunch during which partners and children met and further stories were shared.
